Under the supervision of the Director of Child & Adolescent Services, this position is responsible for the delivery of clinical services and community supports to children and adolescents with severe and persistent mental illness, as defined by the state authority, The Department of State Health Services (DSHS). Services are to be provided according to the Resiliency and Disease Management Model, and must conform to the Performance Contract, Community Service Standards, and Helen Farabee Regional MHMR Center policy and procedures, and Medicaid standards. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: The incumbent assists consumers in making informed choices educating them on community resources and assist with accessing services. The incumbent schedules uniform assessments and updates treatment plans in accordance to consumer need. This position will be required to serve on-call after regular business hours, for which compensation is provided. The incumbent must provide face-to-face assessment and crisis intervention services to any person requesting help or presenting a crisis at any time. Teamwork, initiative and positive example in work habits are expected at all times. Provides consultation and support to fellow staff as needed. This position requires an aptitude for working with severely mentally ill, often impoverished people; and for seeing this work as a clinical specialty in which we take great pride. The incumbent should have knowledge and skills in assessment, diagnostics, treatment planning, and community support services for children with mental illness and their families; as well as knowledge of psychotherapeutic medications and basic casework skills. This position provides assistance keeping unassigned caseloads up to date and/or assistance to caseworkers with assigned caseloads as needed. The incumbent is accountable to the Center Manager. Reassignment is a condition of employment that may occur at the employer’s discretion. Your work location and hours could change based on program needs.

bulletEducation, Training, and Experience (including licensure and certification)

Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university with major in social, behavioral or human services field. Licensure is not required. Experience with Severe and Persistent Mental illness is preferred. Must have valid driver’s license and be insurable to drive Center vehicles. Proof of PIP insurance. Must pass all Center mandated trainings.

Plus: Licensure as a Chemical Dependency Counselor Intern by Department of State Health Services. Must have completed 270 classroom hours of CD curriculum which meets DSHS standards, completed the 300 hour supervised practicum or meets the educational and experience exemptions/waivers as outlined in DSHS chapter 450.109, pass criminal history standards which includes finger prints as described in 450.115, sign a written agreement to abide by the ethics contained in 450.121, and be worthy of public trust and confidence as determined by the Department of State Health Services. Must possess a letter from DSHS that states the intern is registered with DSHS. Experience with Severe and Persistent Mental illness or Substance Abuse is preferred.
